10th February 2007THAT'S IT, FOLKS! i'm back again, tired, but healthy and happy! due to some problems with the fuel pump of engine 1 in sydney i arrived 3 1/2h later in germany than expected (so more than 30h travel time!). but finally i made it! hope i will find somebody for a good beer here. but i guess that's not a problem! (first i need a "little bit" of sleep... ) ; )

5th February 2007well, it's almost done. tomorrow i'll go canyoning and afterwards 2 days to waheke island. that's it! i had a great vacation and want to say thank you to those who had a look on what i was doing here especially those who found the time to write me something! : ) there will be almost 800 pictures when i return so i think i can take a little bit of my vacation to you! last update will be on the day of my arrival in germany (10th MEZ). take care and CYA!
1st February 2007by the way, i think i will not post any pictures anymore. it's too extensive and as i will be back soon you will be able to see all of them (more than 700 in the meantime)! ; )
1st February 2007WHOSSSAAAA! i just realized that i became lazy in writing...:p the last days i passed mainly in roturua and on the coromandel peninsula south-east of auckland. once you get used to the smell of bad eggs roturua is a nice city which offers many activities to its visitors. as a pity after my raft the weather was not very good. but together with some guys i did something which is called 'luging' and is more or less driving down a hill like hell in black bobby cars. : )) for the coromandel peninsula i hired a toyota for two days. especially the hotwater beach (dig a hole and let the hot water flow in) and the cathedral cove (some may know that from postcards or so) were the highlight of that trip. after half a day in auckland i am in christchurch again right now. but i will return on the 4th and will probably not leave it anymore (except perhaps one day trips) before my flight on the 9th. there's enough stuff to do so i should not become bored. ; ) so cya all folks. enjoy your time!
24th January 2007AWESOME!!! did a grade5-raft (highest one!) this morning and it was really cool! it included a 7m waterfall where i almost got washed out of the rafting boat! yesterday evening i visited some kind of maori-event (more ore less the 'native' inhabitants of nz) with some fight dancing, singing and of course a special big meal which they cook with hot stones under the surface. you can say that roturua is the maori centre. so it was quite interesting to see a minority, which - compared to others in the rest of the world - is well integrated, show their culture (looking quite strange to foreigners). the day after tomorrow i will head towards corumandel peninsula which means that i almost reach auckland, the end of my journey. but as my flight back will begin on february 9th (nz time) i will have the time for a 3 1/2day-trip to christchurch (south island, by plane) again and perhaps a trip to the north lands (the part north of auckland). so have good time and prepare that i will want to see you all again! :p cheers
18th January 2007just in short: i am in napier now and it's a beautiful day (beach?!). i have now again a mobile with a new zealand number (+64212602530). there should be no problems anymore with text messages or calls ('cause no roaming anymore)...by the way: i uploaded some pictures the day before yesterday. cheers, michael
15th January 2007hi! finally i have again some time to tell you what was doing the last time. i think i found the only win2k-internet-facility (-> no pics) in wellington. :p but anyway: as i told you i got to known to a taiwanese girl in tekapo. we came closer to each other during our time there :p and decided that we wanted to travel together as far as our schedules allowed us to do so, what we did the last time. we drove to many place for the short time (see "route" section; start and end in christchurch) and experienced a lot of things...beautiful, tiny akaroa, the hot spa pools of hamner springs, golden bay (north of abel tasman) with its large beaches, the swamp lands (ahaem. sorry, ellen! :p) and the coast along kaikoura with its seals (we - unfortunately - only saw from far) and rich seefood. it was a marvellous time, but finally and sadly we had to split up yesterday. i am really cheerless about that. but at the moment there is nothing we can do about it. :(
today i arrived in wellington, a loud and crowded city which is rich of traffic (if you come from the south island). tomorrow i will try to find its hidden beauties. but i guess i won't stay too long here...:)
in the last time i think more often of home. i hope you are all doing fine there. as i am on the nort island now my return slowly comes into reach...
13th January 2007hi! we just brought back our car. everything was great! but i do not have that much time at the moment. i will try to find an internet facility in kaikoura or (more likely) in wellington.

6th January 2007One other important thing: I am really SORRY not being able to answer to every single eMail or forum message. Depending on my current location internet can be very expensive, slow or just not available. But you can BE SURE that I READ ALL OF THEM and I am always happy when I hear something from you (even if you just tell me what you do at the moment)! Thanks for that!
6th January 2007Ni hao! From now on I have to write in English so that somebody non-german can understand (help at dict.leo.org). :p Things changed:
The first thing is I got to known to somebody with who I hired a car and I started travelling around together with for about 12 days (Big fun driving on the left side, automatic gear changing, more narrow streets, little bit different right of way,...But you get the trick really fast.). I really enjoy it very much so far!
The other thing is that it seems to be impossible to change the flight to go to Australia: As Ina and me seem to have a special STA student ticket a stopover in Australia is NOT possible. We will change our flight in Sydney (an absolutely great city I was told many times) and can't get off the airport!!! F***! At least I will have more time to spend on the northern island then...most people say 3 weeks is plenty.
Sorry for still not having uploaded new pictures. By accident I chose an internet cafe without usb support. I am not sure how it will be like the next 1 1/2 weeks as I do not want to spend too much time for internet. But perhaps there will come a chance! ; )
1. Januar 2007HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Ich wuensche allen ein gutes neues Jahr! War hier in Christchurch auf dem Cathedral Square (Zentrum) beim Countdown mit dabei. Ansonsten war in der drittgroessten Stadt Neuseelands meiner Meinung nach nicht sooo viel los; spassig war's trotzdem...: )
Jetzt bin ich uebrigens seit etwa 5 Wochen in Neuseeland; so schnell ist die Haelfte des Urlaubs schon vorbei!
29. Dezember 2006salut! back to christchurch: jetzt bin ich genau einmal um die suedinsel rum (naja, die nordspitze fehlt noch :p). eigentlich wollte ich hier nur einen kurzen zwischenstop machen und dann weiterfahren. aber ich habe meine plaene ein bisschen geaendert und werde erstmal ueber sylvester hier bleiben. tekapo hat spass gemacht. es liegt in den bergen drin und man kommt sich so ein bisschen wie in der wueste vor. mitten auf dem mount john haben sie hier ein observatorium gebaut und wenn man bis dort hochgewandert ist, hat man fast eine 360grad-panorama-sicht. leider habe ich hier zwar eine gute internet-anbindung, aber windoof 98. sprich: nix mit bilder. da ist momentan aber auch der wurm drin...; )
24. Dezember 2006Sodele, da bin ich wieder. Sieht so aus als ob Hostel und Bib mit dem schlimmsten an Internet gesegnet sind. Bilder hochladen ist schlecht. Aber immerhin, das hier tut. ; )
In Stewart Island habe ich nicht allzuviel gemacht. Es ist eine sehr ruhige Insel, die vorallem zum Wandern und diversen Wasseraktivitaeten einlaed (Tauchen, Kajaking, Underwatercruising, ...). Ich war dort vorallem Fischen und habe ausser dem 'Blue Cod', den man dort normalerweise faengt, auch einen seltenen 'roten Seebarben' (oder so aehnlich ;) ) und beinahe (ist mir im letzten Augenblick von der Leine gehuepft) einen medizinballgrossen Octopus gefangen. Ausserdem hat jemand tatsaechlich einen Hai erwischt!!!
Hier in Dunedin werde ich heute ABend erst mal Weihnachten bei BBQ im Hostel feiern. Morgen ist alles zu, also relaxen angesagt...FROHE WEIHNACHTEN ALLE BEISAMMEN!!!
23. Dezember 2006Sodele, bin wieder auf dem Festland, genauer: in Dunedin. Werde mich morgen frueh mal in die hiesige Bib verkruemeln. Da gibt's Internet fuer umme. Vielleicht bringe ich ja auch noch icq zum laufen...; )

Dezember 2006halole! da bin ich wieder! mir tun zwar immer noch die haxen weh; bin aber ansonsten in einem stueck. :) der 3taegige kepler-track war echt stark: jetzt erst hab ich richtig verstanden, warum herr der ringe in neuseeland gedreht wurde. man kommt sich untrhalb der baumgrenze vor wie in einem maerchenwald....
inzwischen sind wir in invercargill, ein grosses, flaches nest. und viel mehr ist da auch nicht: ich wollte mal ins "splash centre", ein riesenschwimbad, gehen und ausserdem mal schauen, was das hiesige musical theatre so hergibt. aber leider ist beides dicht zur zeit. deshalb geht's morgen wieder weiter, fuer mich nach stewart island und fuer ina weiter die ostkueste entlang. ja, ihr habt richtig gelesen! unsere wege trennen sich hier. ina will ein bisschen alleine mit ihrem auto (das wir uebrigens seit wanaka besitzen) weiterfahren; unter anderem da sie dann auch an ein paar orten tauchen gehen kann, was mich nicht interessiert. aber wir werden uns wohl, wenn alles klappt, in einem monat wieder in auckland treffen und dann die letzten 2 wochen nach australien (von melbourne nach sydney) gehen (der rueckflug geht ja eh ueber sydney).

Dezember 2006tach! mich gibt's auch noch. wir sind gestern von einer 2-tages-kajaktour zurueckgekommen: das wetter war zwar absolut mies (1. tag regen und 2. tag ein bisschen weniger regen, aber trotzdem auch f... cold). aber nur bei diesem wetter kann man die tausend kleinen wasserfaelle sehen, die aus riesigen hoehen in spruehregen uebergehend herunterregnen. heute muessen wir erstmal lockermachen. zumindest ich haenge noch so ein bisschen durch. aber als naechstes werde ich wohl den kepler track in angriff nehmen! ; ) [michael]

6. Dezember 2006Wow! So schnell geht die Zeit vorbei! Wir waren mittlerweile in Punakaiki bei den Pancake Rocks (irgendwelche Loecher, aus denen bei Flut und passablen Wellen Spruehfontaenen rausschiessen) und wo die Natur einem wie im Film vorkommt. Leider ist Bilder hochladen ziemlich aufwaendig. Aber ich werde versuchen ab und zu ein gutes aus den vielen Bildern herauszufischen...:) Danach sind wir ueber Greymouth zum Franz-Josef Gletscher, wo ich einen Full-Day Hike und Ina ihren Sky-Dive gemacht hat (ich druecke mich NOCH davor; vielleicht auf der Nordinsel :p). Ab heute sind wir in Wanaka, mal schau'n, was es hier so gibt...;) Ich hab uebrigens ein Forum eingerichtet. Waere stark mal ab und zu was aus der Heimat zu hoeren! [michael]
30. November 2006waren gerade "cave-raften" und koennen hier fuer umme das internet nutzen; war richtig cool: in die hoehle rein, durch das eiskalte wasser (neopren sei dank! :) ), mussten wir uns durch engste gaenge quetschen, vorbei an gluehwuermchen, stalakmiten und stalaktiten bis wir am schluss dann wieder ausserhalb der hoehlen im fluss auf dem "blanken hintern" ein paar mal die felsen runtergerutscht sind. ABFAHRT!!! :)) [michael]

November 2006so, jetzt sind wir nun quasi 'ueber den berg'. :) eigentlich waere ich ja gerne am Arthur's Pass ausgestiegen und haette mal eine 2-tages-wanderung versucht. aber dort war das wetter so mies, dass ich lieber im zug sitzen geblieben bin. dafuer wurden wir in Greymouth mit einem absolut genialen hostel belohnt, das geschmackvoll im afrikanischen stil und gemuetlich eingerichtet und dabei auch sehr sauber ist. wir werden wohl dann die tage nach Punakaiki aufbrechen. vielleicht komm ich ja da zu einer wanderung...:) [michael]

November 2006singapur, wo wir jetzt funf tage waren ist sehr interssant, sehr viele vershciedenen volker treffen dort aufeinadner undlebend a gemeinsam. haben die einzelnen viertel angeschaut wie chinatown (endlich wieder chinescihsc essen wie in china) arab viertel, little india (da haben wir gewohnt), und das bankenviertel rundum den river der dort fliesst. waren abedns auch mal fett fisch essen, war alleridngs net gerade billig afur hatten wir eine tloklle bleucytete aussicht auf den alten kern der stadt wo das government leigt. sentosa eine insle 5 min vor singapur ist eine fur touris gemachte insel mit attractionen wie aquarium, butterfly farm und kino usw, und das is das besate mit echtem strand und strandbars und meer in dem wir richtig geschwommen sind, war gany warm und im gegensaty yu in china sehr sauber. aber mal ehrlich also drei tage hatten auch gereicht weil die stadt net so superviel an sachen yum anschaune zu bieten hat. aber dafur hatten wir au bisl zeit zum relaxen am strand. 25. November 2006So, heute sind wir endlich in Christchurch angekommen. Singapur ist eine riesige Stadt, in der die veschiedensten asiatischen Volksgruppen Platz haben. Unser Hotel lag in "Little India". Mit dem MRT (Mass Rapid Transportation) sind wir keuz und quer durch die ganze Stadt gefahren: China Town, Arab Street, Marina Bay, Sentosa Island; dazu jede Menge "Malls" wie in der Orchard Road, der grossen Einkaufsstrasse von Singapur. Ich bin gespannt wie's weitergeht...jetzt geht's ja erst richtig los! Aber zuerst muessen wir erstmal eine ganze Nacht nachholen...:) [michael]
